Project content :
The German-Czech small-scale project "Cooperation in the presentation and promotion of technical monuments" has been dedicated to the cultural and natural heritage of the cross-border region of Jablonec nad Nisou and the district of Görlitz since August 2021.
Project partners are Kultura Jablonec, which runs the tourist information center in Jablonec nad Nisou, and the development company Niederschlesische Oberlausitz mbH (ENO mbH). Two joint workshops will take place as part of the project.
Furthermore, a brochure is being produced in which the 30 most important technical monuments (15 monuments on the German side and 15 monuments on the Czech side) of the Neisse Euroregion are presented. Through the cooperation and the exchange of the project partners and the participating institutions, the mutual cross-border relationship deepens and the implementation of the activities leads to a better development of the tourism potential in the common region.
The aim of the project is to structure the diverse tourist offer of the regions in the field of technical monuments and to promote the cultural and natural heritage of the cross-border region of Jablonec nad Nisou and Görlitz, and subsequently to support the increase in the number of visitors to the institutions concerned. As a result, this should also deepen the awareness of residents and local and foreign visitors about the common area. This first cross-border cooperation between the project partners provides the basis for increased cooperation in future projects.

Project content:

The project focuses on the natural and cultural heritage in the German-Czech border region. The goal is to connect and promote the common natural heritage as well as half-timbered houses and the typical folk architecture of the regions by optimizing and expanding the cycling and hiking infrastructure between the two countries. The project area includes the Kraj Ústí (Bohemian Switzerland, Schluckenauer Tip), the Kraj Liberec (surroundings of Česká Lípa), the district of Bautzen (Upper Lusatian mountains) and the district of Görlitz (Upper Lusatian mountains, Zittau Mountains Nature Park)

The main goal of the project is achieved through the gradual implementation of individual sub-goals of the project: 

1. Tourism development with the aim of making the common cultural and natural heritage, in particular the half-timbered and half-timbered houses, accessible. Their construction is unique in Europe and has been preserved in large concentrations only in the German-Czech-Polish border triangle. They not only characterize the landscape, but also document the way of life in Upper Lusatia, North Bohemia and Lower Silesia. Half-timbered and half-timbered houses are not only associated with historical and cultural values, but also with current concepts such as ecological building and healthy living.
2. Development and networking of a common cross-border network of paths as a basic tourism infrastructure. It is a connection between the Ústí nad Labem region, the Děčín district, the area of ​​Bohemian Switzerland and the Šluknov region with the Liberec region, in the Českolipsko region and on the German side there will be a connection with Bad Schandau, Sebnitz, Neustadt and the districts of Bautzen and Görlitz.
3. Creation of a joint cross-border tourism product and implementation of joint marketing actions to achieve the project goals and development of the area. As part of these joint marketing activities, there will be a road trip, meetings of destination agencies and tourist information centers in the project area, a joint map for pedestrians and cyclists, a joint guide, workshops, fairs, etc., promotion of short films cycle routes.
